Understanding Abstract Art.

February 12, 2007 | Category: Articles on Art

Abstract art is a medium to communicate thoughts and ideas that are bigger then our language. Art is a way of communicating abstract ideas that are not explainable in words. Like the saying a picture is worth a thousand words, art, and especially abstract is worth more than that because there aren’t words to describe it. Original art speaks from the creator to who ever view it. The wonderful part is with abstract art you can come to your own conclusion. The artist might have something in mind when they are creating it, which is personal to them. But the viewer can have something totally different in mind based on their past experiences and observations. Whose interpretation is right? Well whoever is viewing the piece is correct. So when art is purchased from an artist and moves from studio to a home the meaning of that piece has changed to the owner’s point of view. So when you look at a piece of abstract art think of what it means to you. It is interesting to find out what the artist was thinking when they made it, but that should not cloud your judgment on what that piece is saying to you.
