• “Through The Trees” new abstract painting

“Through The Trees” (c)2007 Shannon Willis 12×12″ mixed media on canvas
New acrylic abstract painting. I don’t ususally use green but I decided since it was spring I would give it a try. I love the way the light green texture works to give it a sense of a dense forested area.

“Stream Of Consciousness”(c)2007 Shannon Willis 36×72″ acrylic mixed media on gallery wrapped canvas.
New acrylic painting. I am going to take this to Freed Gallery along a few new paintings I have this week. I am busy getting ready for the upcomming art show with my family this July in Lincoln City. The show is titled “Family Affair” and features all three artists of the family. My Dad has really awesome new sculptures in the works, and my mom has some great new acrylic paintings. • “Red Line” textured mixed media set of paintings
“Red Line”(c)2007 Shannon Willis 12×36″ 3 12×12″ mixed media on wood panels.
This set of paintings in brand new, they are the first small pieces I have done with my new textured technique on wood. Sanding them was hard because they are hard to hold on to when they are small. They look really good on the wall though, I have some more in the works.
• “The Interior” new mixed media abstract painting.
“The Interior”(c)2007 Shannon Willis mixed media on 2 wood panels 32×64″
The painting is done; I have been working on this set for a while now trying to get the right amount of texture and color. I don’t think I could count the layers I put on and sanded off. I think it was defiantly worth the effort.

“Above”(c)2007 Shannon Willis 24×48″ mixed media on gallery wrapped canvas
I just finished this new abstract painting. The colors look better in person then in the photo. It is hard to get a good picture of metallic pigments. There is metallic gold glaze on top of the painting which is transparent so its hard to see in the photo.

Below is a photo I just took of my new set up for art shows. I am going to send it to some shows I am applying to for this summer. I think my new work looks really good toghther. The paintings I have hung on my wall at home make it look like an art gallery. Even though I have a lot of different colors in the paintings they hang well together. I think this photo of my art gives a bold statement. I have been working a lot lately and I will have quite a few new pieces to show soon. Stay tuned!
• Art Show at Mountain Park
This last Wednesday I participated in the Art at Mountain Park art fair. The show was great, talked to a lot of interesting people and met other artists. Here is a photo of me and my new abstract painting, “The Red Window†taken at the event. As you can see I like to paint my hair as well.

“Vision” (c) 2007 Shannon Willis 24×40″ mixed media on 2 canvases.
This is one a few new paintings I have just completed. I really like the way this painting turned out. I used acrylic paint and metallic powder on a textured background. I find it very peaceful and will hang it in my bedroom before I take it to a gallery.
